Happy Birthday to me
I'm 45 years old today! Never have I been so glad to celebrate a birthday before. So far, my day has consisted of a breakfast of scrambled eggs (green), bacon, crepes (also green), a manicure with my cousins Sherry and Christa, and a delicious lunch out. Next up is a trip to the outdoor skating rink and a roast beef dinner. The sun is shining and there is snow everywhere. Perfect.

Lucas' 13 birthday party with his skating friends
January 29, 2009 - my first baby turned 13 years old. When he was born, we lived in Surrey. We had been having a cold snap, and the snow had been on the ground for weeks. We had gone out for supper the evening before with Norm's parents to the Knight and Day. I started having labour pains then. I lasted the night at home. I called my Mom in the morning to meet us at the hospital. We played cards, walked around, and generally had an OK time until about 1:00. The doctor decided to break my water, then things really started moving along. My sister showed up at some time, too. After a shot of demerol and some laughing gas (which I did not like at all), Lucas was born at 5:18pm in the evening. What a joy, what a blessing - a brand new baby boy - Lucas Damien Raymond Pallard - safely arrived. Also arriving was dinner, and having gone hours without food, I was starving. Beef Stroganoff - oh the scent was heavenly. Luckily there were many people waiting to hold the baby, because I really wanted to eat my dinner. "Someone please hold the baby, because I'm really hungry". Not very motherly, but hey, we survived. I think I turned out OK as a Mom, and Lucas definitely turned out to be great son. Happy Birthday, my dear. We are very proud of you. From 7lbs14 and 21,3/4 inches long to 117lbs and 5ft7. Our big boy - we love you.
