back from "the ranch" and ready for another trip

My sister and I have returned from our trip to see Bonnie. We are both so glad to have been there with her after Dad's passing. I hope that we were able to provide some comfort to her. As for the two of us, Julie and I had the chance to be together and talk. We don't often get to do that without interruptions. Car rides are wonderful for providing a place to talk. It works for teenagers, too.

Speaking of teenagers - aren't they wonderful? Really, I mean it. My own teenager is quite a character these days. He has taken a particular interest in climbing on the roof of the school, among other socially unacceptable activities. Needless to say, this does not impress the school staff. My two oldest daughters have decided to emulate him, so this past week, I have been in the Principal's office quite a number of times. All this death and sickness is stressing out my kids and I feel terrible for them. I wish I could give them the peace and strength that I feel. How can I do this? I am glad that Spring Break is here and we can enjoy family time on another road trip.

We will be going to Prince George to visit my cousins and Aunt and Uncle. There will be children to play with, snow to romp in, and many kitchen tables to sit around. I am looking forward to hanging out with the gang.

See below for a slide show of Julie's and my trip to 108 Mile Ranch, which is, for those of you who don't know our province, a 5 hour drive north of Vancouver. It is lovely country. Once back in Vancouver, we were able to male it to Lucas' skating competition. This was the Sectionals (BC and Yukon), so a pretty big deal. He placed 6th in his singles event and 2nd in the pairs. Thee is one photo in that batch that some of you will wonder about, but if you're Canadian and you get around by car, you will get it. Let's hear it for "Rrrroll up the Rim"!

Hello Jackie and family,

I wish you all a wonderful Spring Break...very well deserved. Have a safe trip and give your kids a great big hug from all of us! Lucas--Michelle and I thoroughly enjoyed watching you skate. You were amazing! Jackie,I laughed out loud when you said the kids were doing a little exploring on the school roof top...perhaps not so funny for you but I can just picture it!

Michelle is taking a road trip to Vernon this Spring Break. After looking at the road conditions and the upcoming forecast, my motherly instinct kicked into HIGH gear and now Brad is going to drive her...she is less than impressed. I told her you won't 'get it' tomorrow or even 4 years from now, but when you are going grey and in your 40's, a lightbulb will go on and you'll say to yourself...wow, I now get why Mom did what she did. The joys of motherhood....

Anyway, have lots of fun and laughter.

so, what other 'socially unacceptable' stuff is my favorite maternal teenaged cousin up to?

The way victoria wanted to jump off of things on skis, just be glad she didn't jump off the school roof. Some of the jumps she wanted to take were almost as high.

have a safe & wonderful trip.
