The best sandy beaches are not in Nanaimo, but in Parksville, about 20 minutes north of us. Rosalie had two soccer games in Parksville, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, so we took the barbeque and some wieners for a gourmet beach-style lunch between games. We walked off our lunch on the beach and saw:
millions of seagulls,
two grow-up eagles,
two great blue herons,
and a couple of sea lions playing in the sea. We could hear them, and see them splashing, but they were too far away to get a good shot.
It was a fantastic day, and even better, Rosalie's games went well. They lost the first game, but won the second game, so it's back to Parksville tomorrow for the semi-finals. I think that will be Norm's job, because I'm slotted to take Lucas further up-Island for a skating competition.
PS, please no snow. Lucas, Rosalie, Evelynne, and I are taking a road trip to Kamloops, this week for another skating competition (Provincials) and I really don't like driving in the snow. After all, I rarely get to practice.

Let the snow be at Panorama for Rosalie to enjoy. Don't put out the 'no snow' vibe... just redirect it a bit!
