Yaakaar

Every good cause needs a push and lots of publicity. I would like to spread the word about seven amazing kids who are trying to raise money for a humanitarian aid trip they will embark upon next spring.

I have just created a blog and a facebook page to help publicize their cause, so please share the links and the message.

YAAKAAR means HOPE in the Wolof language and that is what seven teens hope to give to the people of Senegal.

Catherine Charlebois, Sebastien Legault, Jacob Cooper, Marc-André Mercier, Peter LePatezour, Francis Richard and Lucas Pallard are currently enrolled in a two-year Global Perspectives course with the Conseil Scolaire Francophone, which will culminate with a humanitarian and educational aid trip to Senegal in the spring of 2013.

These seven students are committed to raising $3, 500 each to cover their travel expenses plus a $500 donation toward projects at the three schools and one orphanage they will visit. Donations are always joyfully received.

Follow them on their journey as they develop an awareness of the world and its complex issues.
